Our history began in 1989, when Impact Software introduced "Almanac for Windows". Almanac was not only one of the first Windows programs available of any kind, it also won the very first Windows award for "Best New Windows Application" at the 1993 Shareware Industry Awards.

Between 1990 and 1993, Impact Software introduced several utilities to edit and manipulate Windows icons. Icon Studio and Icon Manager were among the first 200 programs recognized by Microsoft as true, 32-bit applications. In 1995 Impact Software introduced Microangelo, the “Grand-Daddy” of icon editors! This unique name has set the tone for this successful software family. As unique a name as Microangelo, its exceptional capabilities have stood the test of time.

In 1998, Microangelo became the first icon utility to surpass 1,000,000 downloads on CNET (download.com). Later, Microangelo introduced true animated icons on the desktop, and when Windows XP was released, Microangelo was the first icon editing tool capable of creating and editing alpha blended icons.

In 2003 Impact Software changed its name to Eclipsit, Inc., but our commitment to improving Microangelo has not changed. Microsoft will introduce Windows Vista very soon and as always, Microangelo is prepared, offering complete support for the hi-res (256x256) images and PNG compression supported by Vista.

Today Microangelo is not only the leader in icon editing software for Windows, but has now won the coveted Shareware Industry’s “Best Graphics Program or Utility” award three years in a row (2000, 2001, 2002) and the "Best Desktop Enhancement" award as well (2004, 2005, 2006). We are very proud of these "three-peats", which remain unmatched by any other software authors in the sixteen years of existence of the Shareware Industry Awards. Microangelo was also awarded the 2002 “People’s Choice Award” as the most popular software download at Simtel Networks.
